the CAPITAL BLUES ENSEMBLE
Groove motivation all along the dc blues beltway

Many of you have been asking and yes, now you can take members of the band HOME with you!  We now have a MISSION,  a mission beyond just getting folks to have a grand time with us in public, a mission to SELL THESE RECORDS to help us to pay the bills for this new album.
We now have to pound the pavement, wandering from club to bar, roadhouse to restaurant, festival to flophouse hitting the bricks from here to there, playing in dives, playing in the street, sometimes with barely enough gear to be heard but still driving patrons to a sweating frenzy for tips night after night for fun, for art, for money. It’s a tough job but we knew that when we signed on. Come on out, see us, hear us, buy us, we’ll even personally autograph a copy to ya! Then go ahead, indulge, take us home for the night... we’re worth it.
Street musicians working for tips. Bands like these bring great music to the public but are often performing one step ahead of local public nuisance enforcement officers.
A bunch of folks and favors made this record possible.
First and foremost The Band, Art, Bill, Swamp, Brian, Gary & Ian. More about all of them on thier very own page.
The whole PROCESS of getting the thing DONE takes a lot of talented folks...
A great deal of thanks and amazement has to go to Web Powell for his intense work to get the photography and layout for this album done over an INTENSE week of too-little-sleep. He shot it. He cropped it. He polished it. He never ONCE blew up at me for the constant requests, changes, fixes, mistaken direction and late-night phone calls I threw at him. He got it in on the deadline. He still speaks to me. Call him. Use him. He’s good!   webb297@aol.com

IF ALL THE COMBINED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE CAPITAL BLUES ENSEMBLE WERE LAID END TO END,
THE RESULTING PATH WOULD EASILY REACH FROM THE SURF CLUB ALL THE WAY TO EXTREMELY LOW EARTH ORBIT
WHERE THEY'D BE THE FIRST FULL BLUES BAND TO PLAY THAT HIGH.

A double-handful of blues drawn from great sources. While you’re enjoying our own work on it,
take the time to check out where these songs come from. From Otis Grand and Eddie Bo to Joe Zawinul, Coco Montoya and Otis Rush,
the musicians that wrote this stuff are the inspirations for what we do

Otis Grand is The Man! Thanks for HAS-BEEN HUSBAND... great tune.
Ellen Popiel, veteran of television and movie special props, wardrobe, set-dressing and Mistress Of The Look for listening to my concepts, trashing the stupid/impossible parts and working with Webster to make the remaining 1/2% into something worth shooting.
